Introduction
We are partnering with a national specialty healthcare organization that operates a modern pharmacy location in Mississauga, ON, focused on patient‑centered care, compounding, and clinical pharmacy services. This site is part of a broader network supporting complex medication needs across homecare and outpatient settings.
This is a 12-month full-time contract position offers the chance to work weekday business hours in a highly regulated, quality driven environment with a collaborative clinical team. In this role, you will hold primary responsibility for the safe, accurate, and compliant delivery of pharmacy services, while supporting and supervising technical staff.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing all prescription dispensing activities in compliance with provincial and federal pharmacy regulations
- Supervise the staff in the pharmacy.
- Providing patient counseling, clinical documentation, and pharmaceutical care as required
- Supervising and coordinating pharmacy technicians and workflow across production, order entry, and distribution
- Supporting sterile and non‑sterile compounding activities, including IV admixtures (e.g., antibiotics, TPN), as workload requires
- Ensuring all SOPs, policies, and quality standards are consistently followed
- Establishing, maintaining, and validating quality assurance procedures and documentation
- Monitoring equipment, materials, and processes and recommending improvements where appropriate
- Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to resolve medication‑related questions
- Participating in clinical initiatives and quality improvement programs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy required
- Licensed and in good standing with the College of Pharmacists of Ontario required
- Hands‑on clinical or homecare pharmacy experience is an asset
- IV admixture or sterile compounding experience is an asset
- Hospital or outpatient pharmacy background is an asset
- Experience with Kroll pharmacy software is an asset
- Injection certification is an asset
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and patient safety
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and telephone)
- Professional judgment and confidence in a regulated environment
- Comfortable working collaboratively across clinical and operational teams
- Solid computer skills and adaptability to pharmacy systems
